Republicans, This is Your F*$%ing Fault

When we assumed we couldn't sink any lower into the political abyss that Donald Trump has conjured up like a witch standing at his bubbling cauldron of bullshit, here we are. What the country saw today was the direct result of the Republican party aiding and abetting the absolute trash heap that has been the last four years of the Trump presidency, and we got the result they deserved.

While Trump has gone on countless, baseless tirades over his term, everyone else has had to take a seat to his idiocy. Thanks to his band of  Republican stoolies unwilling to speak out against the continual scandals, against the "fake news,” but really, the only thing that's a sham is who Donald Trump is as a man.

And the Republican base is to blame. No one is saying America is perfect because it ain't. But, showing in vivid colors that white men with guns are allowed to storm the capital like a band of beer league Avengers is proof enough that our country is rooted in racist policies where one side earns armed to the teeth warriors in full tactical gear. At the same time, the other got a few guys with nightsticks. This was a failed coup to scare politicians, some of the very same ones who empowered them. Outside of nationally known figures like the perennial jackass Ted Cruz, who's to say, someone with a body full of Monster Energy and suburban hate wouldn't put a Glock in the face of a junior Senator, demanding to know, "Do you support Donald Trump?"

This was a terrorist attack; this was not a protest. Today's parade of abhorrent halfwits was a mix of Proud Boys, QAnon psychos, white supremacists, along with every other fringe group who screams out as a mouthpiece for the "good ole days" of when women, gays, and folks with darker skin were kept in their place. Today was their reckoning, and it was planned in broad daylight, and they were armed, and ready to fight back. Waving flags for a man, not their country, says it all. The hard right of the Republican party has evolved into a cult.

There were Blue Lives Matter flags flapping in the wind, but those flags also stormed the steps, past the very officers they swear to love, the ones who many fought within the name of their plan. This fight isn't about anything other than a slice of the populous feeling pushed out and because of their mediocre results at life, this is their voice, their moment. They're aware of their lack of depth. So why can't they join a club for people who have little to offer? What're a few bodies piled up at the wayside?

Confederate flags waved in the capitol halls today, someone sat in Nancy Pelosi's chair with their boots up, while another man stole the podium as a keepsake for his mancave. Countless others were armed with high caliber weapons, and had these people been black, they'd all be in cuffs or dead. What's your definition of terror? Attacking Macy's in protest of capitalism run amok and people dying at the hands of cops is not the same crime as attacking a governing body with the threat of violence. It was as if the lesson from Michigan and men plotting to rape and kill governor Gretchen Witmer wasn't enough of a test run. But, yet there's a video of capital security posing for photos with armed insurgents.

Today, the House and the Senate, and the Oval Office belong to the Democrats as a direct protest of Trump. The problem isn't going to go away, but it needs to be dealt with by putting forth policies that help all Americans, predominantly the middle and lower classes. You don't get a bunch of men in camo angry about their lives without a trail of breadcrumbs. There needs to be explicit attention paid to changing the hearts and minds. Otherwise, this won't be the last dance, and these guys love guns. What's stopping them from becoming the terrorist bombers quoting the Quran they claim to hate? There's not much of a line separating the two if you're dipping into ideology.

And as he always does, Trump didn't do anything but stoke the fires. He told his cult he cared about them, saying, "We love you," and that “You're very special." After telling his mob to go home, he ratcheted up his incendiary comments once again with talk of a stolen election, which prompted both Twitter and Facebook to ban him. Charlottesville taught us a lesson in the kind of snake Trump is: he craves adoration so much, even if by the wrong people, he's willing to bite only if it breaks the skin, just so.

There's one truth, and Republicans all need to accept it: Trump needs to be removed immediately. His actions for the next few days could be anything short of bombastic – including citing the Insurrection Act to interfere with the transition of power. Congress should remove him from office without hesitation.  Republican Senators need to swallow the bitter pill of going against their complicit demagogy and stand for their country. Don't wait, stay late, and put Trump out in the streets. He is not fit to lead America. Doing this is the only way for the Republican party to wash some of the blood on their hands because this ugly moment belongs solely to them. Anyone who stands against removing him deserves their place alongside a president hellbent on taking the whole establishment down with him.

A noose hung on the capitol steps, prompting Donnie Jr to tweet, "this isn't who we are." No, this is exactly who we've always been, and it's time to stop pretending.
