Mar 13, 2014 - Oceti Sakowin Elders Statement Regarding Keystone XL

Elders and others of the Oceti Sakowin (Great Sioux Nation) Preservation Alliance recently met at Sitting Bull College to chart the course of the transfer of sacred knowledge from the elders to the younger generations. Approximately 150 people gathered to discuss matters of national importance such as the proposed Keystone XL pipeline, Dewey-Burdock Uranium Mining in the Black Hills and the future of Sacred Sites, among other topics. Stay tuned for a potential meeting on the Lower Brule reservation March 30, 2014 regarding Keystone XL and a meeting of the Black Hills Sioux Nation Treaty Council April 29, 2014 (146 year anniversary of the signing of the 1868 Fort Laramie Treaty).
