NEVER FORGET THE LAST CARIBBEAN INDIGENOUS REBELLION AGAINST COLONIALISM
I once took my Lokono-Arawak daughters to join me in paying our respect (by lighting some sacred sage) at the monument in Kalinago Territory to the two Kalinago Warriors and heroes who fell at the hands of the British Empire in Dominica in the last Kalinago uprising in defense of their god-given rights of free inter-island trade in 1930.....the Great Chief Jolly John was NOT afraid to take on the might of the British Empire (British Warships actually fired starbursts over the Kalinago Territory to terrorize the old, the sick, and the children who fled into the mountains to escape the constant explosions - for daring to simply do as they had always done - and trade freely in the Caribbean LONG before CARICOM 'free trade' ever existed … and we should NEVER forget his fearlessness and courage in this dark time when the people needed a strong leader...he was indeed a great Ouboutou on par with the heroes of yesteryear!
