SEATTLE, WA- On January 20th, 2019 Indigenous Missing and Murdered Families will be leading the Seattle Women’s March again this year.

From the Committee: “We want to continue to uplift our Missing and Murdered Indigenous Victims and Families. We respectfully invite all Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Children, Two-Spirits (LGBTQ+), and Men to attend. We want to honor your Missing and Murdered Loved-one. With your help we are able to continue to bring the awareness of our pandemic of Missing and Murdered Indigenous People (MMIP) all across turtle Island.”

WHAT: Missing And Murdered Indigenous Women’s March 2019

WHEN: JANUARY 20, 2019

Key Details: The march starts at Occidental Square park & ends (to be determined).

Indigenous people will begin gathering at 9:00 AM (NDN time) at Occidental Square Park, by the stage. We are aware that the march doesn’t start until 10:00 AM, but we want to have adequate time to properly care for our M.M.I.P. families and confirm attendance.

10:00 AM Opening Prayers—Blake Shelafoe & Cecile Ann Hansen~a descendant within the family of Chief Si ‘ahl («Chief Seattle») — has served as the elected chair of Duwamish people since 1975.

We will then lead the 2019 Seattle Women’s March 3.0 “We Are the Change”. Our route is shorted this year in respect of our Elders and our Disabled.

We will continue our event with a second welcoming, prayer, and speakers.

We will then take a break and enjoy a hosted dinner along with more entertainment!

*Bring banners, signs, posters, drums, rattles, songs & prayers.

*Please bring folding chairs for elders if you can.

*Weapons, drug and alcohol FREE event. We are not responsible for injury, or loss of items.

Earth-Feather Sovereign (her/she pronouns) is a member of the Colville Confederated Tribes located in the State of Washington (Northern and southern Okanogan “n. sjilx”, San-Poil band “n.selixtcl’n”, and Nespelem “snpʕwílx” bands). Her Father is Ernest Clark and Mother is Deanna Marcellay. Sovereign is a descendant of Chiefs and Matriarchs, including Que-Petsa of the snpʕwílx People. Sovereign is inspired by her Ancestors to continue to advocate for her people, all Indigenous People, and all inhabitants of our Motherearth. Sovereign is currently known for her role on helping with the awareness of the pandemic of our Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. Sovereign along with Gina Mosbrucker helped initiate the Washington State HB2951 Bill that will help create more comprehensive data base to track our Missing Indigenous Women. Sovereign helped initiate Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls day in Seattle WA on May 5th. Sovereign continues to advocate and help pass State, City, and Tribal initiatives to help address our pandemic of Missing and Murdered Indigenous People
