Apr 22, 2017 - Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes divests from Wells Fargo

April 20 2017, From the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes (CSKT) Communication Office

PABLO – The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes had used the services of Wells Fargo Investments for years. However, Wells Fargo’s involvement and participation with the North Dakota Access Pipeline caused a change of heart for the CSKT’s Tribal Council.

Last month, Council voted to divest from Wells Fargo and began moving all funds to other accounts.

Currently, CSKT has no funds invested or held by Wells Fargo Investments.

“The Salish, Pend d’Oreille and Kootenai people stand in support of protecting sacred sites and the rights of indigenous tribes,” said CSKT Chairman Vernon S. Finley.

CSKT uses various banks and investment houses to protect tribal assets.

Council’s formal vote took place March 2.

The City of Seattle and Davis, California have also cut all ties with Wells Fargo.
