Feb 14, 2017 - BREAKING Judge Denies Request to Stop Construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline

February 13, 2017, The AP is reporting that a Federal Judge has denied an emergency order requested by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe to halt the construction of the remaining section of the Dakota Access pipeline.

According to the AP, “U.S. District Judge James Boasberg, in Washington, D.C., said that as long as the oil isn’t flowing through the pipeline, there is no immediate harm to the Cheyenne River and Standing Rock Sioux tribes, which are suing to stop the project. But he said he’d consider the arguments more thoroughly at another hearing on Feb. 27.”

Last week, the tribes requested a temporary injunction to stop the construction of the pipeline from going underneath the Missouri River.

Judge Boasberg stated that, “the harm to the tribe apparently would come from the pipeline being turned on and the oil flowing through it, not from the pipeline’s mere presence.” in his decision.

Energy Transfer states that final phases of the construction would take about two months and expect it to be pumping oil in three months.
