Nov 26, 2016 - Army Corps Issues Eviction Notice to Oceti Sakowin Camp

In a letter addressed to Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Chairman Dave Archambault II, the US Army Corps of Engineers Col. John Henderson issued an eviction notice to water protectors currently camped at the Oceti Sakowin Camp.

He states that he will be closing Army Corps managed federal lands North of the Cannonball River, the current location of the Oceti Sakowin Camp, on Dec 5th. The land in question is tribal lands affirmed in the 1851 Ft. Laramie treaty, in which the Army Corps took possession of, illegally, in 1944.
