Feb 7, 2014 - Heating The Rez by Chase Iron Eyes

Today Lastrealindians is launching “Heating The Rez”, an effort to raise $50,000 to properly heat our homes. We are at a loss that this Northern Plains winter is so dangerously cold, propane prices are so abnormally high, and circumstances are such that because a family could not afford to heat a home one of our Tribal members has passed away, freezing to death on the Standing Rock Nation (North & South Dakota, USA http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/woman-dies-dakotas-propane-heat-home-22379636 ).

That is a test of our humanity. Our hope is to convert 20 homes to renewable heating sources in 2014. Buying more propane, at ridiculous prices is the necessary bandaid now, but we are going to move our people forward to regenerative heating sources. Take a look; share the energy.
