Jan 27, 2019 - Texas Federal Court Judge Affirms Native Prisoners’ Religious Right to Wear Unshorn Hair

In a spectacular decision in favor of three Natives incarcerated in the Texas state prison system, a federal court judge in Houston has ruled that Texas cannot enforce “its male grooming policy against Plaintiffs with respect to the rules preventing inmates from growing their hair long and wearing it loose.”

Judge Nelva Gonzales Ramos issued the ruling on January 24, 2019, after a bench trial before hr last year. Read her ruling here: Dkt #322 Findings of Fact and Conclusions of Law.
