Hundreds Blockade Line 3 Pump Station

After a weekend of trainings at the Treaty Peoples Gathering, hundreds of water protectors descended by land and by air on an active Line 3 pump station near the Mississippi headwaters, climbing over large steel fences and creating multiple blockades.

Seattle City Council Stands with Ojibwe Tribes Fighting Line 3 Pipeline

In a letter addressing the Tribal Chairmen of the Red Lake Band of Chippewa, White Earth Band of Ojibwe, and Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe, the Seattle city council states they, “support of your efforts to halt construction of the tar sands Line 3 pipeline. We recognize impacted Nations are fighting a long battle to decommission oil pipelines and to transition to renewable resources. This letter recognizes the harmful impacts of the oil industry on Native American community lifestyles, health, and sovereignty.”

Over 50 Water Protectors walk onto Line 3 Pipeline easement, two lock themselves to an excavator laying pipe

On Tuesday afternoon, two water protectors locked themselves to an excavator laying pipe on an Enbridge worksite near Cloquet, MN. They marched onto the easement with over 50 activists, shutting down construction on the Line 3 tar sands pipeline for much of the work day.

Judge Revokes Permit for Keystone XL Pipeline, Delays Construction

A federal judge ruled to revoke Nationwide Permit 12 for the Keystone XL pipeline, a key water-crossing permit needed to complete construction of the project. The ruling states that the US Army Corps violated the law by granting the permit, and that the Corps must begin formal consultations under guidelines of the Endangered Species Act, causing major delays for construction.
